THE PROPAGANDA HAS CROSSED THE LINE, FOR “EU FOR YOU” BECAME “A BLANKET FOR YOU”

Suddenly, a plethora of mocking comments from Eurosceptics, “patriots” and the opposition emerged, trying in every possible way to disparage the assistance that the country is receiving from the European Union. All this was done in order to “cover-up” the information that North Macedonia will receive 66 million euros from the EU in the fight against the coronavirus, which all the abovementioned ignore and do not even mention.

On April 22, EU Ambassador Samuel Zbogar announced on his Twitter account that the Republic of North Macedonia will receive assistance through the EU Civil Protection Mechanism, which includes 5 generators, 25 family tents, 200 mattresses and 1,000 blankets. Austria also sent gloves and disinfectants, among other things.

Following this announcement, the anti-EU campaign was launched immediately, i.e. the slogan “Blanket for you” was promoted as an ironic reminder of the “EU for you” campaign.

To make the situation even worse, some of the media, that have been contributing with their anti-EU propaganda campaigns over many years now to forgetting what European countries are doing for us, are playing a big role. Things went so far that one of the leaders of the smaller opposition parties wrote a column on one of the portals responsible for the fight against the EU and their aid, claiming that the EU, despite having to invest 30 billion for “military mobility”, managed to set aside “significant” funds to help Macedonia with 5 generators, 25 tents, 200 mattresses, 1,000 blankets, which, unfortunately, as the author writes, as will be done in Serbia, will be intended for the thousands of migrants who have meanwhile been gathered in the country. That is how much the propaganda machinery has developed in our country…

Among the main propagandists is a professor who has been writing against the European Union for many years and regularly ridicules and comments ironically in her columns on the assistance that is coming from the EU. Her column does not go without her addressing the anti-EU campaign, starting from the name change to the latest comments on donated blankets. But, she persistently has remained silent about the 66 million euros.

In this entire propaganda machinery, besides the media, there are also fan pages like Misija, Politichki Cirkus, Pavel Shatev, Vidi Vidi, MAJ TAP, Nalet da se storite, Makedonija i Rusija † Pravoslaven Sojuz, Bojkotiram, Sekula Vojvoda Fan Club, who, with their thousands of followers, are only obliged to share and spread the news. In fact, it is their job.

One of the fan pages “Boycott” writesLet it be written in history that we have changed the name for 25 EU blankets”, and received more than 300 likes and a bunch of comments, of which every second word is “Severdzani” .., and not to mention the kind of language that is being used, the insults that are written, and what is most frightening, things go as far as ending up with threats to “those who have changed the name.”

Everyone is doing their own thing, some for profit, some for “patriotic reasons”, but we must admit that the number of preachers whose Euroscepticism has “gotten into their veins” and hate everything related to the European Union, is big. They always find a way to turn truth into a lie.

What’s even more tragic is that they have a lot of followers who blindly believe everything they say, so “a lie repeated a hundred times becomes true.” Things are getting to the point where even the dangerous coronavirus has been used by some intellectuals in order to claim that the background to all this is supposed to hide migrants entering the country.

However, the real picture shows something else on-site, so you can read more information about the assistance that North Macedonia receives from the European Union only in recent years on the following link.
