Disclosure

This text is a clickbait. The headline, although posed as a question, prejudges a manipulative claim about ”does Ahmeti hint at what Lavrov predicted?” Dividing Macedonia between Bulgaria and Albania?” This claim is incorrect and is not supported by facts.

Ali Ahmeti’s statement did not contain such a hint. Ali Ahmeti’s statement that was transmitted reads:

”With VMRO, the red lines are set, for the agreement with Bulgaria for the good neighborly agreement, for the Prespa agreement, for the agreement with the Bulgarian side, which VMRO does not accept as an agreement, for us here is the red line.  There is no going back for us. And whoever wants to challenge these things has no business with us!”

The good-neighborly agreement with Bulgaria was ratified on January 15, 2018. Earlier, it was signed by Prime Ministers Zoran Zaev and Boyko Borisov on August 1, 2017. The agreement was signed in Macedonian and Bulgarian in accordance with the constitutions of the two countries and provides for Bulgarian support in Macedonia’s Euro-Atlantic efforts to join the EU and NATO, bilateral cooperation, promotion of transport communications, facilitation of various customs and border formalities, such as and facilitating contacts between the citizens of Macedonia and Bulgaria. The content of the agreement as an official document can be seen on the website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of North Macedonia, as well as on the Bulgarian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The Prespa Agreement, as a complete document, can be seen on the side of the Government of RNMThe agreement on resolving the name dispute in Psarades, on the Greek side of Lake Prespa, was signed by Ministers of Foreign Affairs, Nikola Dimitrov and Nikos Kozias on June 17, 2018.

None of these agreements provides for the territorial division of our country. Such manipulation is not present in the statement of Ahmeti, who states that they will strive to respect both agreements, and they will demand that from their partners.

In the end, with the membership of the Republic of North Macedonia in NATO, the projects for Greater Serbia, Greater Albania, United Macedonia, etc., are a vain dream of certain groups and individuals. With NATO membership, our statehood is guaranteed and the borders are safe!

The manipulative title is intended to give the wrong impression of a scenario for the division of the country, which leads the public to the wrong conclusion. There is no scenario for the division of Macedonia between Albania and Bulgaria.

This is just another in a series of attempts to create an imaginary enemy and use it to spread panic and fear among citizens. The F2N2 team has written several times in the past two years about the manipulations with the so-called Tirana platform, as well as the issues of language and identity, which are returning just before the elections.
