On March 30, a certain Dragan Ugrinovski, who presents himself as the president of the „Tvrdokornite“, a defender of 2001 and a member of the Executive Committee of “Edinstvena Makedonija”, posted a text on his personal Facebook profile claiming that the quarantine that has been going on for three months is not because of the soronavirus, but because of the deadly poison Sarin, which was mistakenly dropped by US troops on a mission in Afghanistan and then transferred to the Chinese city of Wuhan, which is actually the genesis of the coronavirus.This post was also fully published by the portal Tri.mk.
Two weeks later, this “news” came to light again and spread widely on several portals, claiming that Sarin was the cause of death in people, not the coronavirus, and again blamed the United States for the situation.
This news is false and manipulative for several reasons.
First of all, the truce between USA and the Taliban was signed on February 29, at a time when the coronavirus in China began to decline. It is not true that Sarin was allegedly mistakenly leaked, much less that it was transferred to China by US troops who took part in the October 2019 military games in Wuhan. This disinformation narrative, that USA has brought the coronavirus to China, began to spread from China, which has been and still is a target of criticism for its management of the situation, and it was in its favor to shift the blame to USA. Hence, if American troops were indeed exposed to the leak of Sarin, depending on the degree of exposure, they would immediately lose their lives.
Therefore, these conspiracy theories should not be taken for granted, especially when they come from China, but it is in this segment that manipulation has taken place.
The accusations against USA for an alleged attack on civilians with the SARIN poison in Afghanistan are not new, they date back to 2017. But those claims are untrue because the goal was to cover up the Sarin attack on the Syrian civilian population by Russian-backed Syrian forces of Bashar al-Assad.
Thus, from a few half-truths, a false narrative has been compiled, which leads to a false perception of USA as a state, but also to the appearance of the coronavirus as a whole.
How similar and yet very different are SARIN and COVID-19
Symptoms of Covid-19 in most cases include fever, dry cough, fatigue, sore throat, diarrhea, headache, loss of taste or smell, skin rash, shortness of breath, chest pain or pressure, loss of speech or movement in some cases.
But these symptoms have caused a very small percentage of deaths. Of the more than 4 million people infected globally, over 1.5 million have recovered and only about 300,000 have died.SARIN, on the other hand, is an extremely deadly chemical agent. Most of those who are directly exposed to SARIN do not survive. SARIN is not transmitted, only those that are directly exposed to the dusty mixture that is released into the air at that moment can lose their lives if not treated immediately.
The symptoms caused by SARIN according to the United Nations Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons are:
Sweating, blurred vision, headache, difficulty breathing and vomiting, loss of body control, muscle paralysis (including heart and diaphragm), and fainting.
How does the world remember SARIN
In 1995, the world heard about the deadly effect of SARIN after the attack on the Tokyo metro station. In that attack, 13 people who were directly exposed to the action of SARIN, meaning they had closer contact, lost their lives.
That the nerve gas Sarin was used in the war in Syria in 2017 by the Syrian army under the control of Bashar al-Assad is also confirmed by the report of the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW). This nerve gas is banned under all international protocols and laws, and therefore its use is considered a war crime.
The difference is clear that the coronavirus has symptoms and effects of severe respiratory disease, with an incubation period of an average of 5 days, but if you are exposed to SARIN the symptoms are immediately noticeable, and depending on the degree of exposure, death may immediately occurr.
So, according to the author of this post, the soldiers exposed to the deadly SARIN through Afghanistan managed to play sports in Wuhan and infect other soldiers. It remains unclear how the soldiers who were exposed to this deadly gas survived, developed corona and then reached Wuhan, where the infection began. Given all the illogicalities, the author refutes himself.
This is an obvious manipulation of a few facts and the fruit of a very rich fantasy that certainly surpasses even the darkest conspiracy theory.
