That afternoon, on April 30, 1945, as the Red Army storms the center of Berlin, Adolf Hitler sees only one possible way out for himself. He does not want to fall into their hands alive and thus take responsibility for his criminal megalomania. The Nazi dictator and Eva Brown, with whom he has just gotten married, are committing suicide in the “Führer’s” bunker, 12 meters underground. The last followers burn their bodies and bury the remains at the exit of the bunker.
Brutal changes in the world.
But the end of Hitler’s “millennial empire” was not until May 8. On that day, the Wehrmacht generals signed an unconditional capitulation to Germany. This marked the end of World War II in Europe, which began on September 1, 1939, with the German invasion of Poland. The war in Asia lasted for several more months, until the capitulation of Japan on September 2, 1945. It is estimated that more than 60 million people died during the war. The face of the world was deformed in the most brutal way possible.
