The British public support the lockdown and would back more rigorous measures should the experts find necessary to win the fight with the coronavirus. The results from the pool conducted by the BMG for The Independent show that the voters are prepared to see the parks closed and the workers in the non-essential jobs with a more tightened travel bans. Also, the voters would support extension of the lockdown measures until the beginning of July.

Yet, if the lockdown measures last until August or September, a total of 41% and 48% of the respondents respectively, found them unreasonable. A high 12% back the prolonged measures for social distancing until the beginning of 2021.

A total of 57% of the respondents find the measures by the Boris Johnson administration good while 26% expressed a bad feeling about them.

Decisive 64% of the respondents supported the Government’s decision to save lives at the cost of saving jobs and livelihood opposed by a low 19% stating that the Government goal should aim at saving the economy and jobs.
