Children across the UK are developing mental health conditions, including post-traumatic stress, because of the pandemic, a charity has warned.

As well as anxiety about their loved ones’ health, many children are facing social isolation and hunger, the Childhood Trust says.

Children in poverty who don’t have the internet at home are effectively shut out of online lessons while schools are closed. Few are able to access therapy. Teachers warn this will lead to entrenched inequalities between them and classmates from more affluent families.
