Original title: „The European Commission predicted the virus in a comic 8 years ago: It came from China, quarantine was introduced, and here’s how they eliminated it“
The portal Tocka.com.mk published an article which writes that the European Union in 2012 ordered and published the comic “Infected”, which astonishingly predicted what is happening today with the global pandemic of COVID-19. However, in this propaganda presentation of the calculation of the virus, the global bureaucrats ultimately save the planet.
The purpose of this misinforming article is to make the readership aware that the European Union allegedly knew about the virus eight years ago when the comic was published, alluding to the fact that the virus was deliberately created. The comic is actually an illustration of a possible or seen situation of fighting an infectious virus, with EU doctors and institutions managing the situation, similar to the one we are witnessing today.
Analyzes and experiments are performed with pathogens in a laboratory in China. Suddenly a man from the future appears and wants to warn the world about what will happen if the pandemic is not stopped.
The story also has comparisons with the transmission of the virus from animals to humans from a crowded market in China. While globalization, or air traffic, are the main culprits for the expansion of the pandemic, according to the article.
The portal does not cite a source in the text, but according to the title and the content, it is very likely that it was derived from the text of the Serbian propaganda portal kurir.rs, which on the same day, 18.05.2020, published an article with the same title and content only two hours before the publication of Tocka.mk. But also on May 17, a day before the Serbian portal, Russia’s state television Russia Today already had a similar article in which the comic was analyzed in detail. The link to the original article can be found here.
It is not true that the EU knew about the COVID-19 virus. The European Union’s website includes an electronic version of the comic which refers to public health, disease prevention, epidemics, health policy, international co-operation, the EU’s international role, or possible pandemic situations around the world and how the EU would deal with such a situation. Therefore, it is clear that the comic is not an announcement, nor a prediction, but a reflection of a situation from the past. At the end of the document, an explanation is given that the comic is based on several true facts, events from the past, but it is also combined with fiction because such is the nature of comics. And despite the fact that this comic is funded by the EU, it was written by independent authors.
It refers to 2012 when Ebola and other viruses spread around the world, so the content of the comic is logical.
Although the story may be fictional, it is intertwined with some factual information. It is not a prediction that another pandemic will occur, as history has shown.
We have already written about a similar example. We explained that the 2012 choreography of the London Olympics, subject to conspiracy theories about how they had announced the virus, was a mere artistic representation of England’s healthcare system over the years.
We have also written about the statements of a Russian controversial tennis player who said that the virus is a product of Bill Gates who predicted the virus and wanted to chip the population, although Gates only conveyed facts, historically known, such as the one that the world avoided an Ebola pandemic and that after a few years, another virus is likely to appear, given that only during the XX and XXI century, the world has gone through four pandemics and the fifth pandemic with COVID-19 is underway.
We don’t need neither Gates nor the EU to know that the world has had several pandemics, and the possibility of other pandemics is not ruled out.
Regarding the allegations of the article in the portal, about the resignation of the EU Head of Science, of which it is stated that he allegedly submitted due to the unprofessional response of the European institutions regarding dealing with the virus, the truth is different. Namely, according to the European Research Council, since his appointment, Professor Ferrari has shown a lack of engagement, failed to attend very important meetings, spent a lot of time in the United States and failed to defend the program and mission of the Research Council.
Hence, theories that the EU is to blame or that it is not doing enough to save the pandemic are incorrect. Even less that it predicted the virus.
Given the above, we are again witnessing disinformation originating in Russia and arriving in North Macedonia through Serbia. However, what must not be overlooked is the fact that such misinformation aims to initiate Euroscepticism and mistrust in the system and institutions.
