The text that is presented with a question in the title states that because of the landing of Tamara Todevska, our Eurovision representative, at Skopje Airport, allegedly with the government plane, the plane in Istanbul, otherwise a regular line, was prevented from landing. Because of this, the plane after a one-hour circumnavigation of the sky above Skopje was diverted to Pristina under the “excuse” that there was a strong wind, and therefore there were no conditions for safe landing. In another text without signature, with a speculative character, the medium transmits claims presented in the social media first on a private Facebook profile who explains the event on the evening of May 19 2019, and then a private Twitter profile asks the Government whether, because of Tamara and her welcome, the plane circumnavigated above Skopje. Instead of the portal acting proactively and sending questions to the competent institutions, by publishing the text in which the questions to the competent institutions are publicly addressed by private individuals through social networks, raises doubts in them and sets the ground for serious abuses and bringing into danger a larger group of passengers on that specific airline. As a media, the portal has an obligation to check this information before publishing it.
The F2N2 team checked some of the developments related to the operability of the International Airport Skopje, on the evening of 19.05.2019. With one simple internet search it can be seen that the portal www.sdk.mk transmits official information from the airport authorities at the Skopje airport. According to all information, a strong wind from the south side is the reason for the postponement of the landing of several planes, including the flight of Wizzair from Malta, the flight of Turkish Airlines from Istanbul and the flight of Croatia Airlines from Zagreb. What’s more to say except that even 2 days later, the portal based on social media announcements spreads speculation and unverified information aimed at creating a wrong impression and bringing mistrust in the institutions. Accordingly, this is a false news.
