New analysis shows that the staff of the technology giant Huawei is deeply connected to the Chinese Army and the military intelligence organs.

The research of the employee biographies shows that there are individuals who even have a double function, both in the company Huawei and the Chinese People’s Army.

From Huawei, they say that the analysis has many speculative elements and that it cannot find the employee claimed to be working for both the company and the army.

The analysis was made after Chinese companies leaked information about the biographies of 590 million employees at the beginning of the year.

The study, made by Professor Christopher Balding of Fulbright University in Vietnam and London Institute Henry Jackson, for now only states that “Huawei employees, in key positions at a middle level, have previously been employed in the intelligence services in the Chinese Army, and some of them can be linked with hacking and industrial espionage of some Western companies.”

One of the biographies shows that a person employed in Huawei simultaneously works as a lecturer and researcher at a military university through which he was hired by the Chinese People’s Army. Professor Balding says that this person is working for a Chinese state agency that explores electronic military capabilities and military cyber space.

From Huawei they say that all the biographies are reviewed in a strict and detailed manner before they can be employed in the company. Particular attention is paid to those who have previously worked for the army and the government. They are required to submit documents proving that their ties to the military or government in China are finished.
