Original title: “Does the government give up from the EU as a main strategic goal?”
The portal Express.mk publishes a text with a title in form of a question with which it imposes an answer, that the government gives up the EU as a main strategic goal. Namely, the author of the text refers to the statement of the President of the State during the military exercise “Decided blow 2019”, which we transmit to you integrally:
“The partnership with the United States is successful, efficient and with their help we expect by the end of the year to achieve the formally biggest strategic goal that we have set out since the 1990s, and that is our full-fledged membership in NATO”, in order for the author of the text to further continue to draw the conclusion that the EU becomes a second-rate strategic goal for the President.
The disinformation is also published on the portals: Kurir and Infomax.
The text is based on the statement from the President Stevo Pendarovski, given in Bitola, on the open day for citizens with the participants of the military exercise “Decided blow 2019”. As the largest military exercise in the history of our country, organized in cooperation with NATO, the President in his statement gives an overview of the strategic partnership between the Republic of North Macedonia and the United States, which goes on successfully and efficiently and with their help he expects to achieve our strategic purpose, for North Macedonia to become a full member of the NATO Alliance.
The event on which the statement was made is such, that it is normal for the President’s statement to be in that context.
In the statement, it is nowhere mentioned that for the authorities, the EU is becoming a second strategic goal, nor do they give up integration processes for entering the EU. The author of the text imposes his own conclusion derived without any credible evidence. He draws the conclusion on the basis of his own assumption, delivering wrong information to the public that contains the elements of conspiracy theory. He shapes his thesis while manipulating the facts from the statement, which should show the “hidden plan” of the authorities, ie the “allegedly cancellation” of the EU. The purpose of this media conspiracy theory is to focus the public attention on the efforts of the Government and the President for EU accession.
