At a time when all scientific and research studies are focused on finding a cure or a vaccine against coronavirus, many of them are circulating in front of the public eye, although they have not been clinically confirmed.

Thus, in April, the thesis emerged that smokers are more resistant to COVID-19, that nicotine cures or helps treat COVID-19 infection and it is possible that tobacco can prevent you from becoming infected. All of these theses stem from a French study published on April 21The World Health Organization has since warned of lobbyists spreading this propaganda, and that smoking damages the lungs and other parts of the body and makes us more vulnerable to the #COVID19 infection. It’s the right time to quit smoking for safer and better health.

Our team has already written that smokers are not more resistant to coronavirus.

These days, we are once again witnessing titles with almost identical subject: COVID-19 does not attack smokers, the researchers informTHE LATEST RESEARCH: Kovid -19 does not attack smokers?.

But this time the content comes from research by the Israeli company Clalit Health Services. According to their research, smokers are said to be less likely to test positive for the coronavirus, which means they are less likely to become infected. Their research has shown that there is a low rate of smokers infected with COVID-19 and that they are a very small part of the large number of seriously ill people. Thus, supposedly without a doubt, this bad habit can protect against COVID-19.

In the published report, the company Clalit Health Services presents the results of a large study conducted on adult members. However, the conclusion is that there is conflicting data on the clinical outcomes for smokers and whether smoking is a risk factor for more serious illnesses. A recent WHO review summarizes the discrepancy between the results of previous studies and the lack of knowledge about the link between smoking and the risk of SARS-CoV-2 infection, emphasizing the need for population-based studies to better understand the relation.

The WHO claims that smokers are more vulnerable to the virus because the act of smoking involves contact of the fingers (and possibly a contaminated cigarette) with the lips, which increases the possibility of transmitting viruses from mouth to mouth. Smoking a “hookah”, often involves touching with the mouth, which can facilitate the transmission of the COVID-19 virus.

We all already know that smoking is bad for your health. Given the health risks posed by tobacco use, the WHO recommends quitting tobacco use. Canceling will help your lungs and heart work better from the moment when you quit.
