German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier on friday(08.05.2020) called on the international community to draw lessons from the end of World War II and move to “more, not less co-operation” in the fight against the new coronavirus pandemic.
“We shouldn’t accept the peace order (established in 1945) to disappear in a smoke before our eyes. We want more and not less cooperation in the world, including in the fight against the pandemic”, Steinmeier said in a speech in Berlin marking the 75th anniversary of the end of World War II.
Steinmeier spoke at a small ceremony where he, Chancellor Angela Merkel and the top people in the Bundestag and the Supreme Court laid garlands at a memorial to victims of war and violence in Berlin to mark the 75th anniversary of the end of World War II.
