Original title: THE WORLD IN THE NEW DECISION: Trump is preparing a new war against China because of the coronavirus
The author of the text quotes a statement from a political commentator from Serbia, a certain Milovan Jovanovic, who in an interview with the Serbian portal Kurir.rs stated that “the world is facing a great challenge because the US leader demands official Beijing to be the main culprit of the coronavirus and the outbreak of the epidemic, and wants to form a major anti-virus coalition” against China.
The author of the text, “referring” to unnamed officials from Washington and intelligence sources from Beijing, states that “the White House is preparing for an economic and perhaps a real war with China.” The Serbian portal Kurir.rs is cited as the source of the information. The link from the original article can be found here.
This text, as noted by the author himself, is taken from the Serbian portal Kurir.rs, and is one in a series of articles that the portal Infomax.mk overtakes from Serbian portals, without making additional checking and verification of the facts. The time difference, in publishing the posts on both portals, is one hour.
In its article, the portal Kurir.rs states that the “US President Donald Trump is preparing to retaliate against China because he believes that they are to be blamed for the coronavirus pandemic,” allegedly citing “statements from Washington officials, as well as intelligence claims from Beijing that the White House sees China’s rise as an economic and national threat and is preparing for an economic, and perhaps a real war. ”
Their article quoted statements of two interlocutors, and “instructions” of the Republican Committee in the US Senate in which they allegedly stated that “China must be attacked because of the pandemic.”
It is not true that the United States is preparing for war with China. Milovan Jovanovic, who is quoted by the portal Infomax.mk, asked about the accusations between the United States and China, told Kurir.rs that “the situation starts to look like 2001, after the terrorist attack, when the United States formed a large anti-terrorist coalition against Afghanistan and Iraq.” He added that the then “anger and rage of the American public, Saddam Hussein paid with his life.” But, although he by comparison with the situation in 2001 implies a possible conflict, he does not explicitly mention that the United States is preparing for a real war.
The F2N2 team investigated the instructions and statements by Republicans in the US Senate. On 25 April 2020, the prestigious American business magazine “Forbes”, citing Politico.com, publishes an article in which it discusses the debate between Democrats and Republicans in the US Senate on the situation with China related to the coronavirus. In the report, the Republicans accuse China for hiding the real situation with the coronavirus and for usurping the world’s medical supplies, calling for additional sanctions against China. Among other things, the report states that “China is not an ally and they are not just rivals – they are opponents and the Chinese Communist Party is our enemy.” But, nowhere is stated that the United States is preparing or should go to war with China.
The portal Infomax.mk continuously publishes articles with an anti-US and anti-NATO narrative. The team of F2N2.mk considers this text as a classic example of disinformation and recommends that the data contained in the articles of Infomax.mk to be taken with reservations.
