Original title: „RТ“ Editor-in-Chief: What’s the Difference Between USA and Russian Coronavirus Approaches?
The portal Standard, without further check and verification of the facts, gave an interview to the editor-in-chief of the Russian government television service Russia Today, in which she compared the health systems of the USA and Russia and praised Russia’s readiness to respond to the coronavirus pandemic.
The editor “gives” a few examples of how the American system fails to deal with the situation. You can find the link to the original article here.
This news is a classic example of a spin with more fake elements coming from the editor-in-chief of the Russian government television, which certainly praises its state or its financier, and promotes the narrative of Russian superiority, even in situations where it is not really necessary. People die from coronavirus all over the world.
It is not true that in the USA people are left to die at home if they become infected. Each country has different protocols for treating its citizens, including the USA. The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) provides clear procedures for those who think they have symptoms. Nowhere in this CDC recommendation does it say to stay home, there’s no care for you. On the contrary, citizens are advised to go to the hospital without consulting a doctor on the phone, and to call medical teams at home.
North Macedonia has a similar protocol. Because the nature of the virus is such that it is not permissible for anyone who thinks they are infected to go to the hospital alone because they would infect others, and if they are not infected, they can become infected.
In this document of recommendations for the citizens who suspect that they are infected, just like in the USA, the citizens are advised to first go in isolation and then seek help, and not to go to the hospital alone. It is clear, like in the USA, that most citizens go through the virus at home because they do not need appliances.
Regarding the calling of an ambulance, the same protocols apply; an ambulance cannot be called without passing the protocol on whether or not you are or aren’t infected.
Russia has similar protocols. Those who are positive for coronavirus and have milder symptoms are advised to stay at home, and doctors advise them via video about how to act if their condition worsens or so. This means that although Russia has similar protocols for dealing with patients with COVID19 as well as the USA, the aim is to present the USA as irresponsible, that doesn’t allow its citizens to go to the doctor and leaves them sitting at home until they begin to die.
The mortality rate is not measured by race!
Data on the mortality rate, according to USA official information, may not be accurate because a good portion of the countries didn’t give accurate data on those who died from the coronavirus. And there are a lot of people who haven’t specified their race at all, and there’s a big disparity here. Also, certain states publish statistics on a daily basis, and some on a weekly or monthly basis, and therefore there are differences in the figures.
The news is aimed at glorifying Russia’s healthcare system, which is facing major problems in dealing with the coronavirus-induced situation. All countries have difficulty dealing with the coronavirus, but the truth is that the USA cares deeply about the health of its citizens. The F2N2 team has previously written about the artificial “superlative” for Russia, that is, the alleged discovery of a vaccine, a Russian discovery about the treatment of the virus, and several alleged combinations of drugs to fight the coronavirus, which are not of Russian origin, but are being sold as such.
