The headline of the news categorically claims that the electricity price will rise, without specifying when. But this claim is incorrect, unsubstantiated, and unsupported by some proof of it. The content of the texts states that MEPSO allegedly would not have given up the increase in electricity and that it was not known whether the increase would help cover all the necessary investments of the company, because they received a minimal increase, although they asked for much more. However, according to the statement of the director of AD MEPSO, Ms. Shukleva, it is not known whether MEPSO will request a new price increase again next year. The statement does not say anywhere that there will be an increase this year, nor that there is a decision on such a thing. The portals only used her statement regarding the regular correction of the price of electricity that is done in July, and spun it in order to incite fear and insecurity among the citizens that in addition to the economic crisis as a result of the pandemic, another measure will follow which will hit their pocket.
