For a longer period of time the Macedonian news outlets are spreading news where “alternative” medicine are offered by initially promoting them through suspicious sources, aiming at creating a public opinion against the conventional modern medicine.

Within that propaganda that purposely creates anti-western sentiments, the upper headline found its place. Initially, this type of treatment was promoted by D-r Tulio Simoncini, an Italian Oncologist. One of the reasons, that can make the readers reach out to such treatment. A side of the state of dispear, is the fact that the baking soda fights the ill cells by enabling them an alkalized surrounding.

The following outlets published this text: mkd-news.mk , reporter.mkbabinlek.com,   falanga.com.aupopara.mkpress24.mkpindzur.net,  exlusive.mk,  glamur.mk,    sitel.mkbrif.mk. .

Debunk of the disinformation

At first, what media failed to report is that Simoncini had his practitioner license revoked upon the dead of one of his patients.

Additionally, in 2008 the Netherlands Health Inspectorate released an official statement defining the treatment as “hazardous and ineffective”.

The text as published in North Macedonia, contains ways and unconventional medicines that are not supported by any scientific researches and conventional methodology of research upholding the principles of the general-official medical practice.

The entire narrative is a segment of a larger scale propaganda aiming at inciting mistrust among the citizens toward the pharmaceutical industry, describing it as part of a criminal network that cooperates with the western world on a mega plan to destroy the humanity.

Having in mind that human lives are at stake, referring to the controversial Medical Doctor is a precedent for itself. The suspicious treatment as well as hiding the fact of the revoked license makes this text a disinformation. F2N2 team considers that publishing of such text is a risky endeavor and represent unserious and unprofessional behavior of the mentioned media outlets.
